A briefing session devoted to the results of service and combat activities of the Internal Troops in 2017 was held with the participation of the Minister in the Ministry of Internal Affairs on January 17.
Having opened the meeting with the introductory speech, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Colonel General Ramil Usubov noted that in the result of successful continuity with the strategy of development and progress initiated by Great Leader Heydar Aliyev by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev, our country could considerably strengthen its economic and defense potential as well as international positions of our country in 2017, and emphasized special attention given by the Head of State to the process of building up the army including further improvement of the Internal Troops activities, logistics, working and living environment.
The Minister brought to the attention of meeting participants the special role of the Internal Troops in protection of independence and internal stability in our country and noted with satisfaction that the personnel takes an active part in public order and security maintenance, crime prevention and special operations, and this agency turned into a highly professional unit with combat and moral and psychological training.
It was mentioned that the work done is highly appreciated by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev.  Such attention and care make servicemen to take full responsibility for their duties and to ensure stability, safety, peace and human and civil rights and freedom at an exemplary level always staying alert.

Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Commander of the Internal Troops, Lieutenant General Shahin Mammadov delivered a report on the results of service and combat activity.
The Commander of Internal Troops emphasized the importance of core training duties like improvement of the regulatory framework, bringing training in line with actual fighting conditions, development of material and training base, increase of theoretical knowledge of the personnel, inculcation of highly professional practical skills, improvement of moral and psychological and physical background.
It was also noted that in the result of consistent measures taken in the field of strengthening of legitimacy and military discipline and compliance with statutory regulations of relations among servicemen, group military hazing was prevented, the number of crimes committed by servicemen decreased as compared with 2016, as well as the number of gross breach of discipline and injures among servicemen considerably decreased.
Over the last year, barrack and living conditions were improved and brought into line with modern standards, as well as successful efforts were made in supply of military units and bodies with weapon and specialty vehicles.

Summarizing the session, the Minister of Internal Affairs highly appreciated results of the military personnel official and fighting activities during the reporting years, told about challenges and ways of their handling as well as charged the personnel with certain tasks and gave recommendations.
He noted that measures aimed at further improvement of moral and psychological background of military personnel including education for remaining true to the Motherland and military oath and unquestioning fulfillment of military discipline requirements should be carried on.
The Minister emphasized the importance of timely carrying out of all organizational measures in the Internal Troops and worthily performance of service and combat tasks connected with relevant national and sporting events like 2018 Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix to be held in the country in this anniversary year.
Colonel General Ramil Usubov noted that it is important to organize and conduct management activities and military service in military units, education of military personnel for remaining true to the Motherland, state and nationhood, improvement of its physical and military training, including in extreme situations, as well as to be ready for fulfilling any orders and instructions at the highest level.

The Minister of Internal Affairs assured President of the Azerbaijan Republic, Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev that the personnel will continue to discharge vigorously and selflessly its duties and important functions arising from laws of the country, and to serve the people, the state and the President.
